Skill Acquisition & Training Project

In line with our Guardian & Counselling team, Africa-Our-Happy-Home Foundation is doing well in the area of skill acquisition and training; not only for the youth but also the less privileged in the society. We, on regular basis have been engaging team of experts in various fields to train and empower people to enable them depend sorely on their own. Such training includes but not limited to the following:

-Farming: We have trained people in various forms of farming such as Poultry, Piggery, Fishery, Cassava & Palm tree farming, Plantain & Banana plantation, Goat & Snail rearing. All these have started adding value though in a low profile to the economy. We also believe that more people will join soon; through this, we hope that the crime rate in the society will be reduced because idle person is devil’s workshop.

Some of the problems we encounters here is the use of crude implement and outdated tools because we cannot afford the modern tools now. We are doing our best to go into mechanise farming as well as acquire more land for this purpose.

We always encourage those that have acquired farming skills to establish in rural areas where land is affordable either for outright purchase or on lease. Major problem in setting up a business in rural area includes: no pipe borne water, electricity, security and medical care unit. Africa-Our-Happy-Home Foundation have worked around some of these problems by organising set of groups of related faming skills, lease a land in a rural area, provide them with Borehole water, Generator; then make provision for our medical care unit to visit them at least once in a week or as the need arises.

-Fashion Designers, Hair Dressers, Beauticians & Barbing Salon Skill: We are glad to specify here that through the help of the Almighty God and assistance from voluntary donors, we have trained not less than eighty people in this area within two years. Many of them are doing well while some are still expecting further assistance from us to provide necessary equipment required to set up their own business.

With the limited resources in our hand, we are gradually meeting up their demands. Our strategy which has helped us so far, is allowing three or four people on the same field of specialisation to work together for some time. We empower them with the necessary tools, advice them to generate income that will assist themselves to establish individually in long run.

-Caterers & Party Decorators: Africa-Our-Happy-Home Foundation have not neglected this area. We often organise seminars or training for those interested in this field. We have also assisted some financially to get all that is required to start off. Some are gainfully employed in various hotels. Those that specialise in this area can produce cakes, meat pie, eggroll, doughnuts and can prepare assorted types of local and intercontinental delicacies.

Added into our catering training is Party or Hall Decorators. Those who had acquired this skill earns good living from it notwithstanding that their peak period are festive periods.

-Soap & Detergent Making: Under this skill acquisition and training, Africa-Our-Happy-Home Foundation often engage experts to train people on how to make soap and detergent, Those who embrace this training are not only making a living through it but also produces the one they consumes in their families. The widows are specially empowered in this area as a means of supporting them.

-Garri Processing: Garri which is a product from cassava is the major food in most homes in Nigeria. We train and encourage people to go into it. We have experts on ground that often guide people starting from harvesting cassava to its grinding and frying. Garri Processing is a good business that have been sustaining families especially in rural areas.
